The diamond trade has never fully answered for where its stones come from. Conflict financing, opaque supply chains, and labor conditions that don't survive scrutiny aren't fringe cases — they sit close enough to the center of the industry that no mined stone comes with a guarantee.
So we chose a different starting point. Moissanite and simulated diamond aren't a stand-in for the real thing here — they're the point. Both deliver the fire, brilliance, and clarity mined stones are prized for, without a questionable link anywhere in how they reached us.
This isn't a position we adopted after the fact. It's the reason Modern Diamonds exists — a way to wear real brilliance without wondering what it cost someone else to bring it out of the ground.
The Standard
Every stone considered for a Modern Diamonds piece is checked against mined-diamond cut and clarity benchmarks before it's set — measured, not approximated. Fire, symmetry, and facet precision are graded individually; anything short of spec is rejected outright, not discounted and sold anyway.
Only a fraction of the stones we source ever make it into a finished piece. The rest don't meet the standard, so they don't ship.
Metal is gold or 925 sterling silver, solid through construction. Never plated, never hollow — nothing on a Modern Diamonds piece is built to look substantial without being substantial.
Lifetime warranty. Every piece is covered against manufacturing defects — stone-setting failures, clasp and closure issues, and structural faults in the metal — for as long as you own it.
Normal wear, accidental damage, and loss aren't covered. Defects in how a piece was made are ours to stand behind, not yours to absorb.
To make a claim, contact us with your order details and photos of the issue. We'll assess it and repair or replace the piece at no cost if it's a covered defect.
